Solemn occasion: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy after paying floral tributes to Marri Channa Reddy on his death anniversary in the city on Sunday. HYDERABAD: Glowing tributes were paid to former Chief Minister Marri Channa Reddy on his 11th death anniversary on Sunday. Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, his Cabinet colleagues including Minister Mohd. Ali Shabbir and others garlanded the statue of the former Congress leader at Nagarjuna Circle. Governor Narayan Dutt Tiwari and Union Minister S. Jaipal Reddy also paid floral tributes to the late leader at his memorial near Indira Park. APCC in-charge president G. S. Rao, Congress MLAs Marri Sashidhar Reddy and P. Janardhan Reddy garlanded the portrait of Channa Reddy in Gandhi Bhavan. Congress leaders recalled the contribution of the former Chief Minister. Mr. Sashidhar Reddy recalled the administrative acumen of Dr. Reddy and how he had once said any announcement by him should be treated as a Government Order. When there was some criticism on this score, Dr. Reddy held on to the view that if it was not treated as GO, people would lose faith in democracy. APCC general secretary G. Niranjan and other leaders were present.
