HYDERABAD: A first year B.Com student was found murdered on the main road at Ombir Colony in Karkhana on Sunday. Alleged love affair could be one of the reasons behind the gruesome incident, the police said.

Eighteen-year-old Akshay Shah, a resident of Kavadiguda, was strangled to death allegedly by some persons known to him elsewhere and later dumped the body on the road in front of the Defence Pension Disbursing Office.

Passers-by noticed the body around 10 a.m. and alerted the police.

His bag containing model papers was also found at the spot.

A letter purportedly written by the victim to his ‘lover’ was recovered from him. The letter reads: “I love you and I could not meet you because of some problems.”

The youngster was pursuing B.Com (correspondence) from the Osmania University.

Lead

A sniffer dog that was pressed into service gave some lead to police. From the scene of the offence, the dog went to an open place at Tadbund and later returned to the spot after stopping near a private firm. “This indicates that murder occurred at a different place,” Karkhana Inspector Md. Taher Ali explained.

Injuries

The victim’s grey shirt with maroon stripes was found removed along with his shoes. He bore a grievous injury on head and right side of abdomen.

Akshay’s elder brother Abhishek dropped him at Iyer Tutorials at Ghansmandi in Secunderabad on Saturday afternoon and since then he failed to return home.

His parents –Ilasha and Gaurang Shah tried to speak with him on his mobile, but the phone was switched-off.

“We came to know about the incident when police called us around 10.30 a.m. and informed that Akshay’s body was found in Karkhana,” Abhishek said.
