Subba Rao moves up in veterans’ over 65 section

HYDERABAD: R. Subba Rao blanked M.G. Rao 9-0 in the 65 years & above category qualifying round of the 12th GVK-AISTA Senior Nationals (veterans) tennis tournament at SAAP Tennis Complex here on Saturday.

Rajesh’s century in vain

A century by Rajesh (123, 13 x 4) went in vain for ECIL as it suffered a three-wicket defeat at the hands of Hyderabad Bottling in the final of the A-Division (one-day) knock-out cricket tournament here.

A-Division (one-day) knock-out: ECIL 268 (Rajesh 123, Kiran 72, Yesudas five for 69) lost to Hyderabad Bottling 269 for seven (Rajnikanth 45, Siddhu 52, Ayappa Swamy 47, Arvind 52).

C-Division (one-day) knock-out: APAU 225 for nine (Raghav Reddy 42) lost to Imperial 227 for seven (Azhar Usmani 66, Naresh 41).

Souvik triumphs

Souvik Roy of PG College (Secunderabad) won the 100m sprint in the men’s section clocking 11.10s in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation athletics meet here.

Easy for St. Andrew’s

St. Andrew’s High School recorded a six-wicket win over Sarojini Cricket and Fitness Academy in the Fighters & Martyrs Cup cricket tournament organised by Sujatha Group of Educational Institutions here.

The scores: Sarojini CFA 95 for seven in 20 overs lost to St. Andrews HS 98 for four in 16 overs (Lohit 31, Vihari 31 not out).

Munsiff XI wins

Munsiff XI scored a solitary-goal win over All Stars in the Susai memorial football tournament, organised by Shastri Soccer Club, at Trimulgherry Grounds here. After a barren first-half, the match-winner came through Azeem in the 65th minute.

Prajay bags silver

D.B. Prajay Kongalla of Little Flower High School bagged two silvers and a bronze in the under-14 category of the State-level School Games archery competitions held in Karimnagar, according to information received here. He secured the second place in the 60m and the 30m FITA Rounds besides a third place in the 50m event.

By virtue of this performance, Prajay was selected to represent the State in the School Games National archery to be held in January.

OU probables

The Osmania Univeristy has announced a list of probables to represent it in the inter-varsity football tournament at Annamalai University from December 10. The players listed below must report to G.M. Yezdani, coach, at the Nizam College on December 3 at 7 a.m.
