Mithun, Parthiban do well

TIRUCHI: S.R. Mithun’s half century and S. Parthiban’s four-wicket haul were the highlights of Srirangam Boys HSS’s thumping 121-run win over Mukulathur HSS in a quarterfinal encounter of the Tiruchi Educational District-level under-19 cricket tournament here on Saturday.

The scores: Quarterfinals: Srirangam Boys HSS 200 for six in 20 overs (S.R. Mithun 59, K.R. Dasarathy 41, Gopi four for 24) bt Mukulathur HSS 79 in 17 overs (S. Parthiban four for 17).

St. John Vestry AI HSS 103 in 20 overs lost to E.R. HSS 104 for eight in 19 overs (Sumanraj 31).

Semifinalists spotted

Last year’s runner-up G.K.M. Foundation (Kanchipuram), St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Armed Police and Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar Club (Chennai) entered the women’s semifinals of the Senior State volleyball championship at Palayamkottai on Friday.
