Double for Vijayakumar

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K. Vijayakumar (Kerala) completed a double in the over 45 category of the AITA National veterans’ tennis tournament which concluded at the TTC courts here on Friday.

Vijayakumar got the better of State champion M.R. Ramesh 6-2, 7-6 to win the singles title. He also won the doubles title along with N.B.Vijayakumar. The duo beat K. Arun Kumar and Madhukar Rao in the final.

Aleem won the singles title in the over 55 category. Aleem defeated S. Rajasekharan Nair (Ker) 6-1, 7-5 in the final.

Over 45 (singles): K. Vijayakumar (Ker) bt M.R. Ramesh (Ker) 6-2, 7-6. Doubles: K. Vijayakumar & N.B. Vijayakumar bt K. Arun Kumar & Madhukar Rao 2-6, 6-4, 5-5 (concd.).

Over 55 (singles): Aleem (TN) bt S. Rajasekharan Nair (Ker) 6-1, 7-5. Doubles: John Mathai & Jacob Kallivayalil bt Rajan & Rajendran 7-6, 4-1 (concd.).

Over 65 (doubles): P.A. Thomas & Mathew Mulavelil Thomas bt T.N. Laxmanan & Kesav Perumal 6-1, 3-6, 6-2. — Principal Correspondent
