S. Railway begins well

MUMBAI: Southern Railway women (Chennai) began its title defence with a bang, beating UPL-Rest of India 69-47 in the United Phosphorous Savio Cup All-India basketball tournament on Wednesday.

The results: Women: Southern Rly 69 (Geethu Anna Jose 26, Renjini Peter 12, M Adhirai 12) bt UPL-Rest of India 47 (Anju Lakra 10).

Men: Railways 77 (Jasjot Singh 27, Snehpal Singh 19) bt Tamil Nadu 48 (S. Thangdurai 19, J. Saravana Kumar 11); Services 77 (Jasjot Singh 27, Snehpal Singh 19) bt Maharashtra 48 (S. Thangdurai 19, J. Saravana Kumar 11).
