GVK veterans’ tennis from December 1

HYDERABAD: The 12th GVK Senior Nationals tennis tournament for veterans will be organised by AP Senior Tennis Players Association from December 1 to 9 at SAAP Tennis Complex here, according to B.S. Krishna Reddy, president of the Association.

The event which carries a total prize money of Rs.7.5 lakhs features competitions in three age groups of 45 years, 55 years and 65 years besides the 78-plus category.

A record number of 200 entries have already been confirmed for the biggest-ever prize money tournament for veterans in India.

The signing-in and qualifying rounds will commence on November 30 and the main draw will be from December 2. The singles winners will be richer by Rs. 25,000 and the doubles champions Rs. 16,000 in each category.

V.V. Nagar wins

V.V. Nagar scored a 6-4 win over Bolarum via tie-breaker in the preliminary round of the Susai memorial football tournament organised by Shastri Soccer Club at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here.

Bolarum took the lead in the first half through Rafiq. In the second session, Satti equalised of a pass from Joshua in the 65th minute for V.V. Nagar.

The teams were locked one-all at full time.

In the tie-breaker, Uday, Joshua, Satti, Srikanth Jr. and Srikanth Sr. scored for the winners while Anand, Sai Charan and Rafiq were successful for Bolarum while Khader missed the target.

Rushi Raj to lead

D. Rushi Raj will lead Hyderabad in the All India Col.C.K. Nayudu Trophy (under-22) cricket championship in Visakhapatnam from December 6.
