Ashutosh loses

New Delhi: India’s campaign got off to a disappointing start in the $1,00,000 Asia Cup tennis tournament with sixth seed Ashutosh Singh going down in straight sets to second seed Im Kyu-Tae of Korea 6-2, 6-4 in the first round-robin match of the Red Group in Bangkok on Wednesday.

In the other match, top seed Danai Udomchoke of Thailand survived fifth seed Kuwait’s Mohammed Gharib’s challenge before winning 6-4, 7-6(2) in the Yellow group. — PTI
