Ramesh Babu scores century

Madurai: Ramesh Babu scored an unbeaten century (113) to help Eleven Star Cricket Club defeat Pykara Star Cricket Club by 55 runs in the Canara Bank-MDCA First Division ‘B’ zone league at Madurai recently.

The scores:

Eleven Star CC 231 in 49.4 overs (Ramesh Babu 113 n.o.) bt Pykara Star CC 176 in 43 overs (Rajasekaran 45).

‘A’ zone: Customs CC 226 for nine in 48 overs (Vijay Anand 44, Venkatesh 40) bt Freak Amigos CC 205 in 42.5 overs (Sethuraman 91).

Third division: Olympus CC 196 for two in 30 overs (Durai alias Dayanithi 53, Srinivasan 57, Jaisankar 52) bt Sun CC 119 for eight in 30 overs.

Nagarjuna triumphs

A. Nagarjuna of Jaycess Matric School, Sivakasi won the title in the open category in the Virudhunagar District Chess tournament.

Chinnamanur Cricket Club beat M.K. University College, Andipatti by seven wickets in the Canara Bank-Theni DCA first division league at Theni recently.

The scores:

First Division: MK University College, Andipatti 109 in 24 overs (Pushparaj four for 16) lost to Chinnamanur CC 110 for three in 15 overs (Silambarasan 53 n.o.).
