Paddy growers misled: TD

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party has charged Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy with “uttering falsehood” on enhancement of MSP for paddy and “misleading” farmers.
At a press conference here on Wednesday, TDP leaders -- Umareddy Venkateswarlu, K. Vidyadhara Rao and Kodela Sivaprasada Rao -- said the Chief Minister was wrongly claiming that the enhancement of MSP for paddy was the highest and the disparity when compared to wheat was the lowest during the Congress rule. They said from 1994-95 to 2007-08, while the quantum of hike for paddy MSP had gone up to Rs. 305, the MSP for wheat was Rs. 640 and the disparity between the two was Rs. 235.
