Digvijay Singh doubts delimitation exercise

HYDERABAD: AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh on Wednesday expressed doubts over the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission coming into force during the general elections in 2009.

Replying to a question here, Mr. Singh said though the commission report was almost ready, some States had raised objections. It was for the Centre to take a decision on the issue, he added.

Asked about the agitation for higher minimum support price for paddy, he said it was not correct to compare the MSP for paddy and wheat. He also pointed out that political parties were raising the issue to gain mileage.

The one-day visit of Mr. Singh to the city after moving out as in-charge of the party affairs in UP went almost unnoticed with few Congress leaders meeting him during his stay here.

Mr. Singh, who arrived by train from Bhopal was received at Secunderabad by APCC in-charge president G. S. Rao, MLC Padmaraju Rudraraju, and others

Deserted guesthouse

There was stark difference in the earlier visit of Mr. Singh as the party in charge of the State. Lake View Guesthouse, where Mr. Singh stayed was almost deserted today. Only last week, the same place buzzed with activity when new AICC general secretary in-charge of AP, Veerappa Moily interacted with party leaders.

Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Khairatabad MLA P. Janardhan Reddy and few other Congress leaders called on him.
