Towards improving communication skills

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Charmika Academic Research Development Institution (CARDI), a non-profit organisation, will be launching an innovative teaching module designed for imparting better communication skills, shortly. Informing this at a press meet here on Wednesday Anil Kumar of CARDI said that English teaching in the schools being content-based the students were not able to cope with required level of communication skills in the global scenario.

“The IT sector itself needs over 3.5 lakhs fresh graduates by 2010 and to cater to this requirement we have to better our communication skills. All the top 10 booming sectors like BPO, insurance, retail banking and retail marketing insist on good communication skills and so the time has come to implement a change at the grassroot level,” he pointed out.

CARDI has designed an innovative teaching module wherein the focus would be on concept and scientific assessment system.

According to Dr. Anil Kumar the module, which is named FELTT (Futuristic English Language Test and Training) is designed to inculcate concept-based teaching and pedagogical assessment from III to X standards. CARDI will be initiating an assessment procedure on January 20.
