Pioneer Corps has it easy
BANGALORE: Pioneeer Corps Training Centre pounded Reserve Bank of India 8-2 in the State ‘A’ division league hockey tournament here on Tuesday. S. Lakra (22nd & 45th), Cyprian Aind (24th & 29th), Munda (42nd & 49th) scored a double each and Kalyan Kumar (14th) along with Manju (28th) struck once apiece for the winner. Ponappa (16th) and AK Kavin (33rd) were the scorers on the losing side.
The State ‘B’ division tournament had a rest day on Tuesday. The teams that qualified for the round robin semifinal league commencing on Wednesday were Hassan Hockey Club from Pool ‘A’, Corps of Military Police from pool ‘B’, MEG (Boys) from Pool ‘C’ and South Western Railway from Pool ‘D’.
Three matches were played in the State Senior Women’s Hockey tournament with Department of Youth Services and Sports (Mysore) beating Zenith Hockey Club 12-0, Sports Authority of India (Madikere ) beating Sports School (Kudige) 4-0 and Rangers defeating Navin Hockey Club 7-0. — Special Correspondent
