COLOMBO: At least 22 civilians were killed in an alleged aerial bombing and claymore attack in the north by the military on Tuesday, said the LTTE. The LTTE Secretariat on its website claimed that nine civilians including five employees of the “Voice of Tigers” were killed and nine were injured when the Voice of Tigers buildings on A9 Road, 3.5 km from Kilinochchi town, was bombed. “Employees were present at the Voice of Tigers office to broadcast the War Heroes’ commemorations. The Voice of Tigers buildings were flattened. “Two Kfir bombers dropped 12 bombs on the buildings. The building was situated on the A9 Road and civilians travelling on the road were also killed. The injured victims and bodies of the dead are at the Kilinochchi district hospital. Also in the hospital are the thirteen bodies of the victims killed in the Sri Lanka military claymore attack this morning at Aiyankulam,” it said. However, the military said the LTTE’s clandestine radio station was raided. The military said the pilots had confirmed that the radio station was “completely destroyed.” The radio station was to air the annual speech of LTTE chief Velupillai Prabakaran 90 minutes later.
