Congress announces cash award

BANGALORE: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee M. Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday announced a cash award of Rs. 10,000 for Manjunath of Bankana Katte village in Tarikere taluk of Chikmaglur District for stopping a train when he saw the defective track. In a press release, Mr. Kharge said he would write to Railway Minister Lalu Prasad for recognising his act of valour in stopping the moving train at the cost of his life. Mr. Manjunath will be presented with the award on November 29 at a seminar organised by the party at Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Bhavan, here. — Staff Correspondent
