Reddy to face panel

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Monday directed athlete Bharatha Reddy, an Acharya Nagarjuna University student, to appear before the hearing panel of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and wait for its decision regarding the doping violation charge brought against him by the AFI.

Disposing of the petition filed by Reddy, Justice Ravinder Bhat ruled that the AFI hearing panel would take note of all the objections raised by the athlete, give specific response to those objections and then come to a conclusion about the charge levelled against him.

Reddy faces a two-year suspension if found guilty.

The Andhra 400m runner was one of 10 athletes who tested positive at the all-India inter-university athletics championships in Bangalore last January. The AFI suspended the other nine athletes for two years last month.
