Security beefed up in Bhiwani for Sonia visit

Bhiwani: A tight security cordon has been thrown around this politically important town considered a Congress bastion ahead of AICC president Sonia Gandhi’s visit on Wednesday.

Roads through which her motorcade will pass have been sanitised, nearby houses thoroughly checked and suspicious persons rounded up for questioning, officials said on Monday.

Special security arrangements were made at Bhim Stadium, where the Congress chief would be unveiling a 13-ft high metal statue of former state Agriculture Surinder Singh, killed in a helicopter crash in March 2005. PTI
