NEW DELHI: Giving children an opportunity to become full-fledged singers is musical reality show titled ‘Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs’ on Zee TV.

On Monday, three little champs descended on the Capital to share their varied experiences at the show over the past few weeks. They have been singing to a live band on the show under the guidance of seasoned gurus Sonu Nigam and Suresh Wadekar.

Describing Lata Mangeshkar as her role model, young Vasundhara Raturi said she used to participate in choir singing at Delhi Public School Vasant Kunj but never as a soloist. “My parents boosted my morale and helped me to do the auditions. After the show went on the air, I became a celebrity overnight. My teachers rang me up and told me not to forget everybody, especially my classmates at school. These days I am learning classical music and my guru’s name is Ashraf Ali Khan,” said this Class IV student.

Vibhor Parashar, a Class VI student of Darbarilal Model School, said it was a dream come true to get selected for the challenging show. “My audition took place at St. Columba’s Public School. The song ‘Dewana Tera….’ is my favourite and its singer Sonu Nigam is also my role model. I am singing happy, sad and peppy numbers.”

Patiala boy Rohanpreet Singh, who is studying in Class VII at Sri Guru Harikrishan Public School, said his father inspired him to participate in the show. “My father’s uncle is a well known classical singer and composer. He even writes his own lyrics. In my school I sang Hindi and Punjabi songs. My favourite singers are Sonu Nigam, Himesh Reshammiya and Jassi,” he said.

Eleven contestants from Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Maharashtra and Tripura are also participating in the show. Every week one contestant is eliminated. Last week, veteran singer Asha Bhosle, who was the special guest at the show, refused to eliminate any participant.
