Randhawa-Ghei slip to tied 23rd

Dongguan (China): Jyoti Randhawa and Gaurav Ghei slumped to tied 23rd after returning a three-over 75 in the second round of the Omega Mission Hills World Cup here on Friday.

The Indian pair, which was tied 11th on Thursday with a 65, slipped down with a total of four-under 140 alongside Filipinos Tony Lascuna and Gerald Rosales and Japan’s Hideto Tanihara and Tetsuji Hiratsuka after both the teams settled for a 73.

Americans Boo Weekley and Heath Slocum took the sole lead with a total of 14-under 130 after carding a three-under 69 in the second round of the 28-team event.

Jeev does well

At the Casio World Open in Japan, Jeev Milkha Singh revived his title defence after carding a brilliant four-under 68 in the second round to leap to the tied 15th spot on Friday.

Jeev, who was languishing at the tied 43rd position after a horrendous 75 in the opening round, got his act together and reeled off six birdies against a couple of bogeys to shoot up with a total of one-under 143.

Gangjee, Chowrasia make the cut

At the inaugural Hana Bank Vietnam Masters in Hanoi, Rahil Gangjee (71) and S.S.P. Chowrasia (72) made the cut for weekend action even as six other Indians fell by the wayside after the second round on Friday.

Among others who made the cut were Gurbaaz Mann, who was tied for the 22nd position with a two-under 142 followed a shot behind by Gaganjeet Bhullar (71) at the tied 33rd position.

Arjun Singh (71) and Digvjay Singh (73) shared the 40th spot with totals of even-par 144, while Harmeet Kahlon occupied the tied 54th position after returning a 73 to total two-over 146. — Agencies
