Engine woes for Team India

Coimbatore: A1 Team India has had a poor outing in the last two races, but Narain Karthikeyan promised a better performance in the third round at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia this weekend.

However, Narain’s dream of reviving the team’s fortunes suffered an early setback when his engine let him down during the second practice session on Friday.

Narain, who touched a speed of 253.5kph for the ninth place, faced an engine problem as it was down on power. A release from A1 Team India said the team repeatedly came into the pits as the oil temperature soared. The team initially assumed that the sensor was defective and replaced it but things did not improve.

After the engine problem was identified, Zytek has provided the team with a new engine which would be installed and used on Saturday.
