Sandeep Yadav stars for VPPN

HYDERABAD: Striker Sandeep Yadav did the star turn for Vignan Prabodananda Prashanti Niketan (VPPN) in its emphatic 6-1 win over Wesley High School in the fourth inter-school hockey tournament for the V. Purushotham Memorial Trophy on Wednesday.

Sandeep scored four goals including a hat-trick striking in the 20th, 24th, 40th and 44th minutes while Jaswanth and Mohan scored one goal apiece to complete the tally for the winner.

In another match, Moulana Azad Memorial School defeated CRPF (Hakimpet) 6-0. Khaleel Hussain struck a brace in the first-half while Subhan Bin Osman netted one to give MAZHA a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break. On resumption, MAZMS slammed in three more goals through Mohd. Shanawaz (2) and Wajeed Khan (1).

Match drawn

State Bank of Hyderabad and South Central Railway were locked in a goalless draw in the SAAP Premier League prize money football championship here.

Easy for Vertex

Vertex India recorded a seven-wicket win over TechRP Solutions in the third JDA corporate Olympiad cricket tournament here.

TCS wins title

Tata Consultancy Services scored a five-wicket win over Viva in the final of the APSACS Cup floodlit cricket tournament at Sports Coaching Foundation Grounds (Masab Tank) here. Pradeep was named Player of the Final and Sachin of Viva the Player of the Series.

Arjuna Awardee and former National table tennis champion Mir Khasim Ali and Khalidas, Additional Director of APSACS, gave away the prizes.

The scores: Viva 48 (Pradeep four for nine) lost to Tata Consultancy Services 49 for five.

Chess tournaments

Town Chess Association of Bhimavaram will organise championships for the visually impaired and for boys and girls (under-13) on December 1 and 2 at Town Hall (Bhimavaram) The events carry a prize money of Rs.10, 000 and for details call 98499 32767 or 93911 02940.

CCOB basketball

City College Old Boys Basketball Club will organise an inter-collegiate basketball tournament in the first week of December and the event is open to all junior, degree, engineering and medical colleges.
