Old classics in colour soon

Goldstone has acquired the rights of 14 classic Telugu movies

HYDERABAD: Many might argue that the old classics retain their charm because they are shot in black and white. But how would they be if they are made into colour movies using advanced digital technology? A city-based technology firm Goldstone is doing just that. On Wednesday, Goldstone announced that it had acquired the world negative rights of 14 classic Telugu movies produced by Vijaya Vahini Pictures of Chennai. However, it had not made public the sum paid to the movie company which had produced some of the all-time hits, including Patala Bhairavi and Maya Bazaar. Goldstone, which has acquired technical expertise in introducing colour into classic movies, would be releasing colour versions of Dev Anand’s Hum Dono (Hindi), Rajkumar’s Satya Harishchandra (Kannada) and a Telugu movie by March next. “We are very excited with the acquisition. These are the best classic black and white movies. Maya Bazar has a cult movie status,” said C. Jagan Mohan of Goldstone which has already acquired 15 Telugu films.Shortly, movie aficionados can hear with all the audio quality digital technology can offer, the evergreen dialogue of S.V. Ranga Rao in ‘Sahasam Cheyara Dhimbaka’.
