Congress dreams

This refers to the editorial “Congress dreams” (Nov. 19). The Congress and sycophancy will forever remain inseparable. Sadly, the Grand Old Party of India seems to be stripped of ideas, ideals and ideology and all that it can offer to the nation is just another member of the Nehru dynasty, who appears to be a product of excessive hype and grand publicity.

This new leader waxes eloquent on meritocracy without realising that it cannot be brought about by an individual anywhere, however powerful and influential he is. It is only collective consciousness that can breed meritocracy. An imposed leader will only fail in his efforts to usher in any meaningful turnaround.

T.S. Pattabhi Raman,

Coimbatore Sonia Gandhi’s thunder at the AICC meet that a coalition cannot be at the cost of the revival of the Congress has brought cheer to Congressmen.

The Congress is like an elephant that does not know its strength. Now that it has realised its strength, it can be confident of winning the general elections on its own.

G. Purushothaman,

Tirunelveli The Indian democracy is run by families. Most parties, including the Congress, the JD (S), the Shiv Sena, and the RJD, subscribe to dynastic politics. We can therefore be called the dynastic democratic republic of India.

H.N. Ramakrishna,

Bangalore
