India makes clean sweep

HYDERABAD: India made a clean sweep winning all the titles at stake in the Malayasian Open carrom championship in Kuala Lumpur, according to information received here.

Indian won the titles in men’s singles, women’s singles and team championships for men and women in the tournament in which 12 countries took part. I. Illavazhagi of India won the women’s singles title defeating teammate Rashi Kumari in the final, while Ayesha Mohammad, also from India, finished third.

B. Radhakrishna picked up the men’s singles title defeating R.M. Shankarm (India). R. Arokia Raj won the bronze.

Indian men won the team championship, while Sri Lanka and Maldives finished second and third respectively.

In women’s team event, India reigned supreme, while Maldives and Sri Lanka were second and third respectively.
