Chennai Superstars in cityProminent members of the Chennai Superstars, one of the six teams that will compete in the Indian Cricket League (ICL), visited the city on Saturday. Three of the Chennai Superstars’ five overseas cricketers, England’s Chris Read, Sri Lanka’s Russell Arnold and Pakistan’s Shabbir Ahmed were a part of the group that visited various malls in the city, interacting with the public. Australians Ian Harvey and Stuart Law will join the team later. Former Indian cricketers Hemang Badani, S. Sriram, and T. Kumaran also answered queries from the fans. Read said the ICL’s forthcoming Twenty20 competition held exciting possibilities. Arnold believed he would enjoy his cricket, competing with a few overseas stars and a mix of experienced and promising Indian cricketers. Shikkar Hukku named captainShikkar Hukku will lead the Tamil Nadu State under-14 cricket team in the School Games Federation of India National competition to be held in Mumbai from November 18 to 23. Chennai MarathonThe Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu will conduct the Chennai Marathon in February 2008. Preliminary arrangements for the conduct of the marathon have already begun and the first cheque for Rs. 3 lakhs towards the conduct of the event was received from TNPL, the sponsor, by Atulya Misra, Member-Secretary, SDAT on Friday.
