HASC prevails over ASC

BANGALORE: Hindustan Aeronautics Sports Club prevailed over ASC 1-0 and claimed full points in a tough BDFA Super League football match at here on Saturday.

Dada Nabeel netted the match winner for HASC in the 72nd minute in the tie which was marked by superb display by the rival custodians.

HASC is now at the top of the table with 29 points from 11 matches.

Earlier in ‘A’ division match, South Western Railway Institute defeated Universal FC 4-2. A brace by Srikanth, who struck in the 60th and 75th minutes marked SWRI’s win.

The other scorers were Eddy (10th minute) and Vinod (20th minute).

For Universal FC, Harish (80th minute) and Sunil (82nd min) reduced the margin.

In the ‘C’ division, Minverva scored an easy 3-0 win over Navarthna after leading 2-20 at the half-time. Kishore (25th min), Suresh (38th) and Karthik (55th) were the scorers.

Sriram, Mahendar bat well

Good knocks by Sriram (62 not out) and Mahendar (58) helped Nagarjuna College of Engineering to beat BNM Institute of Technology by 42 runs in the inter-engineering colleges T20 cricket tournament conducted here by JGI on Saturday.

In another match, Siddarth Institute of Technology beat Acharya Institute of Technology by eight wickets.

The scores:

Nagarjuna CE 159 for three in 20 overs (Sriram 62 n.o.) bt BNMIT 118 in 17.3 overs.

AIT 93 for eight in 20 overs lost to SIT 95 for two in 14 overs.

Belgaum posts win

Belgaum dropped a set before prevailing 25-16, 16-25, 25-20 over Chitradurga in the boys’ section of the junior State inter-district volleyball championship which began at Chandagalu in Mandya district on Saturday.

Other results: Bangalore City bt Belgaum 25-22, 25-15; Bangalore Rural bt Chitradurga 25-23, 25-22; Mysore bt Shimoga 25-22, 25-19; Belgaum bt Chitradurga 25-16, 16-25, 25-20; Shimoga bt Chikmangalur 25-13, 25-12; Bangalore Urban bt Hassan 25-21, 28-26.

Girls: Shimoga bt Mandya 25-14, 26-24.

Easy for Sports Hostel

Sports Hostel, Bangalore scored a facile 82-60 win over Corps of Military Police (CMP) in a high scoring Association Cup basketball match at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium courts here on Saturday.

The winner along with KSP, MEG, Ambedkar BC and ASC entered the quarter-finals.

Vinay Kumar’s (38 points) efforts was not enough to see the Military Cops through against the Hostelites who played an all out game with Varun and Rabbani stealing the limelight.

KSP beat BEL 42-26 while ‘A’ division champions MEG and Centre outplayed Young Orions 73-45. Amebdkar and ASC scored comfortable victories over Falcons (51-26) and Koramangala SC (38-28), respectively.

In the women’s section, Beagles and Mounts Club too progressed to the quarterfinals.
