Tarun, Moimim shine

VISAKHAPATNAM: East Godavari off-spinner Tarun Kumar and Visakhapatnam left-arm medium-pacer Moimim Khan shared the limelight with five-wicket hauls in the round-robin matches of the ACA North Zone inter-district under-13 cricket tournament for the P.N. Rajagopal Trophy at the ACA-VDCA Stadium here on Saturday.

Tarun’s spell helped East Godavari restrict Srikakulam to 158 in its first innings. East Godavari was 71 for three in reply at close on the first day of the two-day match with Aravind Sharma scoring 48.

Visakhapatnam amassed 358 for eight declared against Vizianagaram with captain G. Syam Sundar leading the way with a knock of 86. Later, Moimim took five for seven to dismiss Vizianagaram for a paltry 73.

The scores:

Srikakulam 158 in 70.1 overs (R. Suraj Preetham 46, G. Yogesh 30, Tarun Kumar five for 34) vs. East Godavari 71 for three in 32 overs (Aravind Sharma 48).

Visakhapatnam 358 for eight decl. in 79 overs (G. Syam Sundar 86, Antony Khan 73, Abbas Naqui 57, Rajeev Nair 40, Chaitanya Reddy three for 76) vs. Vizianagaram 73 in 25 overs (Moimim Khan five for seven).

Earlier matches: East Godavari 175 and 233 in 74.2 overs (D. Akhil 97, S.G. Sagar 30, K. Siva Kumar four for 29, Ricky Bhui three for 28) lost to Visakhapatnam 351 for seven decl. in 60.4 overs (G. Syam Sundar 149, R. Bhui 109, E. Siva Kumar 30) and 60 for one (Bhui 32 not out).

Vizianagaram 58 and 68 in 44.1 overs (V. Praveen four for nine) lost to Srikakulam 348 for eight in 90 overs (P. Dinesh 191 not out, I. Prem Chand 55).
