Goa police probing terrorist links of hacker

Special Correspondent

PANAJI: The Crime Branch of the Goa Police has begun investigations into the possible terrorist links of a person, who hacked the website of the Information and Publicity Department of the State government. The hacker, believed to be a Turkish national, had pasted anti-U.S. slogans on the website.

Goa’s Information Director Menino Peres said on Saturday that he found the Department’s official website hacked on Saturday morning upon which he informed Chief Secretary J.P. Singh, who also is the Secretary for Information. Following an official complaint from Mr. Singh, the police took up the matter and handed it over to the Crime Branch. Deputy Inspector-General of Police Ujwal Mishra told The Hindu that it would be too early to say anything about “terrorist links” but “the investigators are looking at all angles.”
