Speed up survey of BPL families: Hooda

Special Correspondent

This will facilitate allotment of land to the poor sections of society in Haryana

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has directed the officials of the State Rural Development and Panchayat Departments to complete their survey of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families as soon as possible so that the process of providing plots measuring 100 yards to those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and people living below the poverty line could be started immediately.

Reviewing the follow-up steps in the wake of his announcement about allotment of residential plots to the Scheduled Castes and other poor sections of society living below the poverty line, he said that according to preliminary surveys “Shamlat land” was available in most of the villages.

He directed the land be made available in the remaining villages also so that the process of providing plots could be speeded up.

He said where the land was not available it should be made available by acquisition or exchanging panchayat land with private land.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh said the Chief Minister had announced this scheme at the Bijli Rally in Jharli on October 7.

Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary Urvashi Gulati said during the first phase, infrastructure including water supply, pavements of streets and other facilities would be made available where the land had been earmarked. A committee would be constituted for implementation of the scheme at the village level.
