IN FINE NICK: Rahul Dravid’s century helped Karnataka. MOHALI: Opener Daniel S. Manohar set the tone for Hyderabad with a century (119) and helped his state to 310 for seven at stumps on the opening day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Super League match against Punjab here on Thursday. Manohar’s 128-run opening stand with Ravi Teja (55) was the key partnership for Hyderabad after it was put in by Punjab. With skipper V.V.S. Laxman failing to get going, Hyderabad had to thank the opener’s patient five-hour knock. With A. Shinde on 29 and S.M. Shoaib on seven, Hyderabad can still add more to the total on Friday. For Punjab A. Kakkar (three for 52) was the most successful bowler. In Bangalore, former India skipper Rahul Dravid stroked his way to a century 121 (14x4, 4x6) to put Karnataka on a sound footing at 271 for four against Himachal Pradesh.
