Shweta-Vaniya finals

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Shweta Chandra Rana and Vaniya Dangwal will lock horns in the finals of both the girls’ under-16 and under-14 sections in the Good Earth AITA Super Series junior tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex here on Friday.

Vaniya had it easy in the under-16 semifinals but had to work her way past Amrita Mukherjee in the other category.

In the boys’ section, Digvijay Singh continued his good work and made the finals of both the sections. He did have to sweat it out in both the semifinals, beating Shantanu Rajput and Siddharth Rawat in three sets each.

Ronit Bisht lost in the under-16 section semifinals to the second-seeded Samip Mehta but cruised into the under-14 final. He may not have an advantage against Digvijay as the under-14 final would be played first.

The results (semifinals): Boys: U-16: Digivijay Singh bt Shantanu Rajput 6-3, 3-6, 6-4; Samip Mehta bt Ronit Bisht 6-3, 6-2.

U-14: Ronit Bisht bt Tushal Thawani 6-2, 6-1; Digvijay Singh bt Siddharth Rawat 2-6, 7-5, 6-2.
