Australia’s greatest ODI player

Melbourne: Adam Gilchrist pipped legendary Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting to receive the honour of Australia’s greatest ever ODI cricketer after securing highest number of votes in a players’ poll.

Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) in collaboration with Cricket Australia had invited all 163 players, who have represented Australia in one-day cricket, to vote.

“In total, 110 players took the opportunity to vote and Gilchrist topped the chart with 38 per cent of votes followed by Ponting (19 per cent) and Steve Waugh (14 per cent),” a Cricket Australia release said. — PTI
