AIKF championship

The 21st AIKF karate National championship will be held at the JJ Indoor Stadium, Chennai, from November 15 to 18. The event is expected to feature around 1500 men, women, boys and girls. Sensei M. Kanaharaj was named as the Technical Director of the meet. Karthi Chidambaram, Patron, AIKF, will give away the prizes on November 18 in the presence of Karate Thiagarajan, Chairman and Acting President, AIKF.

Karate expert dies

Popular Karate expert, trainer and coach Vasant died on Tuesday following a brief illness. He was 55. A sports welfare inspector with the Southern Railway, Vasant participated in several National championships, and was a 3 Dan black belt in the sport. He was also a goalkeeper’s coach in hockey. Vasant was the brother of the late R.V.T. Mani, a renowned karate master. He is survived by wife and daughter.
