Spoorthy to take on Akshi in final

VIJAYAWADA: Top seed S. Akshi of Gujarat Seva Mandal defeated fifth seed Sirisha of East Godavari 11-8, 11-13, 11-8, 11-9, while Vijayawada’s second seed K. Spoorthy outclassed her sparring partner Saira Banu 11-8, 12-10, 11-13, 11-5 to enter the cadet girls’ final in the Stag 43rd State table tennis championship at the DRRMC Stadium here on Tuesday.

Second seed Annas Ali of Anandnagar Welfare Association and YMCA’s Poorna Srivasta made it to the cadet boys’ final defeating Vizag’s Srikar 11-9, 11-4, 11-8 and D. Rahul of East Godavari 15-13, 11-9, 11-5 respectively.

Vijayawada’s M. Mrudhula, YMCA’s K. Bhavana and Akshi entered the semifinals of the sub-junior girls’ segment.
