BANGALORE: Corps of Military Police went on a scoring spree in the State ‘B’ division league hockey tournament here on Tuesday. Spurred on by Manoj Tirkey’s five goals including a hat-trick (third, 13th, 15th, 48th & 52nd), CMP slotted eight goals to which its hapless opponent Vasu Sports Club (Hubli) responded with only one. Geeth R. Singh (17th), Pratap Horo (25th) and Baxla (33rd) were the other scorers for CMP and Mithun (22nd) was the sole scorer for Vasu Sports Club. In the second fixture, Rainbow Hockey Club beat State Bank of India 2-1. Uthaiah (20th) put SBI ahead, but in the second-half, Aiyappa (45th) and Karan Poonacha (50th) ensured a win for Rainbow. Aloysius in last fourAt Mangalore, in spite of a four-wicket defeat in its final league match to Kerala Samajam EMHS (Mangalore), St. Aloysius HS (Urwa) entered the last-four stage of the Hangyo Cup cricket tournament on a better net run rate on Tuesday. It will take on Infant Jesus Joyland HS (Bolar) in the first semifinal on Wednesday, while MRPL HS (Kuthethur) will take on Aloysius HS (Main) in the second semifinal on Thursday. The scores: Aloysius (Urwa) 132 for nine in 25 overs (Kiran Clinton 41) lost to Kerala Samajam 133 for six in 23.4 overs (Saifuddin 31).
