Rajan scalps five as Red Diamonds wins

Coimbatore: A five-wicket haul by V.S. Rajan (five for 34) enabled Red Diamonds Cricket Club to score a 41-run win over AEP CC in the Canara Bank-CDCA second division league for the Unidriveline Trophy at the TNAU grounds here recently.

In the other matches, Best VP XI scored a 47-run win over Suryabala Cricketers, while Cosmo Village SA beat Wings CC by five wickets.

The scores:

Second division: Red Diamonds CC 169 in 50 overs (K.M. Suresh 46, A.A. Subair 50) bt AEP CC 128 in 42.1 overs (V.S. Rajan five for 34); Best VP XI 167 in 45.3 overs (N. Velaisamy 43) bt Suryabala Cricketers 120 in 45.5 overs; Wings CC 171 in 45 overs lost to Cosmo Village SA 172 for five in 41 overs.

S.D. Vinoth scored 89 in Colts Cricket Club’s 154-run win over Rising Stars CC in the NDCA-HPF Staff Club Trophy cricket tournament held at the Laidlaw Memorial School ground at Udhagamandalam recently.

Kenthorai CC 153 for seven in 40 overs (H. Magesh 41) lost to Youngstars CC 154 for seven in 28.1 overs (S. Johnson Ravi Prakash 41 not out); Colts CC 245 for seven in 40 overs (S.D. Vinoth 89, M. Shanmugam 50 not out, K. Sivasathyan 41) bt Rising Stars CC 91 (Nagaraj four for 14, M. Shanmugam four for 25); Mechanics CC 151 (R. Nawaz 41, A. Ignatius four for 25) lost to Nilgiris CC 153 for two in 23.2 overs; Don Bradman’s CC 210 (I. Abbas 81, C. Santosh 40, M. Ashwin Samuel four for 36) bt Blossom Cricketers 120 (M. Ashwin Samuel 46, C. Santosh four for 25).

Easy for Sivanthi CC

Sivanthi Cricket Club posted a three-wicket win over Kannan CC in the Canara Bank-SDCA first division league at the SSP grounds, Salem, recently.

First division: Kannan CC 131 in 38 overs (A. Mohan 42, S. Mouli four for 38) lost to Sivanthi CC 134 for seven in 28.4 overs (C.S. Chandra Sekaran 56, P. Govenda Das four for 28).
