SCR defeats Accountant General (AP)

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway struck once in each session to score a 2-1 win over Accountant General (AP) in the super league of the SAAP Premier League prize money football tournament at Gymkhana Grounds here on Monday.

Railwaymen took the lead in the 14th minute when Vijay headed a perfect cross from Jude Antony to find the target. At half-time, SCR led 1-0.

In the second session, SCR made it 2-0 when Vijay scored of a fine solo effort when his 35-yard hit stunned the goalkeeper in the 84th minute.

However, AG’s outfit had the consolation of reducing the margin in the dying seconds when Manibushan headed a neat cross from Anbu Raj.

St. John’s wins

St. John’s recorded a six-wicket win over St. Andrew’s High School in the final of the Boost Cup under-17 cricket tournament at Gymkhana Grounds here on Monday.

Harsh Vardhan was named ‘player of the final’ while Mohammed Ali was named ‘player of the tournament’.

The scores: St. Andrews HS 107 for eight in 50 overs (P.B. Parasher three for 24) lost to St. John’s High School 109 for four in 30.2 overs (B. Sandeep 40 not out, Mohammed Ali three for 38).

OU cricket probables

Osmania University cricket probables to attend a coaching camp at Osmania Grounds from November 16 have been announced here today. The players have to report to the coach G. Manohar Reddy at the venue by 3.00 p.m. The University team to take part in the South Zone inter-varsity and the all-India varsity cricket would be selected during the above camp.

Artillery Centre scored a comfortable 67-35 win over NPA Shivrampally in the GHMC Open basketball tournament at the Victory Playground here.

Artillery Centre 67 (Gopal Ram 25, Dharmender 17, Sukhbeer Singh 10) bt NPA Shivrampally 35 (Srikanth 13, Praveen 16).

Susai Sr football

Shastry Soccer Club (Trimulgherry) will organise the Susai Sr prize money football tournament from November 27 at TVG Grounds here.

Fourteen teams will vie for top honours in the event to be played on league-cum-knockout format.
