Veterinarian undergoes surgery

BANGALORE: Assistant Veterinary Officer of Bannerghatta Biological Park G.K. Vishwanath on Monday underwent an operation for the injuries sustained after being attacked by a tusker in the park three days ago.

According to S. Satish, Consulting Neurosurgeon of Apollo Hospitals, Dr. Vishwanath was operated upon for stabilising the dislocation of cervical spine. He has also suffered a fracture of the spinal chord as a result of which he has developed weakness in the limbs.

Physiotherapy

Dr. Satish said he will be kept under observation for a week after which he will have to undergo extensive rehabilitation and physiotherapy.

Attacked

The wild elephant attacked Dr. Vishwanath when he and his team were driving it away from the herd of captive elephants near a watchtower in the park.
