Corrections and clarifications

* The caption of the accompanying photograph in a report “Armistice Day observed” (Tamil Nadu, November 12, 2007, page 7) was “Remembering The Warriors: In memory of Consul-General of France in Puducherry Joelle Rayet and Health Secretary T. M. Balakrishnan at the statue of the Unkown Soldier on the occasion of the 89th Armistice Day on Sunday”, while the text said that the day was observed on Sunday with Ms. Rayet and Mr. Balakrishnan placing wreaths at the War Memorial (Monument aux Morts) on Goubert Avenue, Puducherry. A few readers wondered whether it was in memory of the warriors or the consul general! It was an error in the caption. It should have been “Remembering the Warriors: Consul-General of France in Puducherry Joelle Rayet and Health Secretary T. M. Balakrishnan at the statue of the Unknown Soldier (and not Unkown Soldier as was published) on the occasion of the 89th Armistice Day on Sunday.”

* The fifth paragraph in a report “Partnerships seem to be the key” (“Sport”, November 7, 2007) was: “The 24-year-old Dhoni’s marked metamorphosis as a batsman has been significant”, while the ninth paragraph in a report “Sachin Tendulkar turns down BCCI invitation to lead Test team” (“Sport”, November 7, 2007) was “With Tendulkar now out of the equation, the 26-year-old Dhoni, who has been impressive in the Twenty20 and ODIs, appears set to take up the responsibilities in the longer of version of the game too.” Dhoni is 26 years old.

* In a report “Yuvraj, Dhoni set up India’s handsome win” (“Sport”, November 12, 2007), it was incorrectly mentioned in the scoreboard that R.P. Singh took four wickets. He took only three. The wicket of Shoaib Akhtar fell to Zaheer Khan.

* Violinist Parur M.A. Krishnaswamy’s name was misspelt as Porur M.A. Krishnaswamy in a report “Friday Review November Fest launched” (“Newscape” page, November 10, 2007).
