Kerala-Andhra tie set for a keen finish

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Tamil Nadu with a huge 371-run first innings lead was in a comfortable position at the end of the second day against Hyderabad in the South Zone under-15 cricket tournament for the Polly Umrigar Trophy at the Medical College ground here on Sunday.

Tamil Nadu, resuming at 366 for seven declared at 427 for eight in 103 overs.

Hyderabad, in reply, was shot out for 56 in 30.4 overs with Bharat Shankar (four for 25) and Auhhil Srinivas (four for five) sharing the spoils.

Forced to follow-on, Hyderabad was 128 for four in 48.4 overs at close.

Strong comeback

At the Vellayani Agriculture College ground, the match between Kerala and Andhra looks poised for an interesting finish. Forced to settle for 154 in its first innings, Kerala came back strongly by restricting Andhra to 129 in its first innings, thanks to a brilliant spell by R.S. Renjith (seven for 31).

However, having gained a vital 25-run lead, Kerala batsmen were rattled by a fine spell by Raghav Preetam (seven for 28) and could make only 121 in 67.1 overs in its second innings. At close, left with a victory target of 147 runs, Andhra was 19 for two in eight overs.
