Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee with her supporters at Tamluk town near Nandigram on Sunday. (Right) Residents of Satengabari village in Nandigram returning home. NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha Secretariat, till Sunday evening, had not received any resignation letter from Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee, sources in the Secretariat said. On Saturday, she announced her decision to resign from the House in protest against the happenings in Nandigram. What the Secretariat got was a copy of the letter Ms. Banerjee sent to the Prime Minister, the sources said and pointed out that this was unacceptable as the rules mandated that a resignation letter of a member should be addressed to the Speaker. In her letter, Ms. Banerjee dwelt on the happenings in Nandigram and in-between inserted the line “I hereby tender my resignation.”
