Easy for Birsa Munda

NEW DELHI: Bikash Kujur slotted in three goals as Birsa Munda Vidyapitha, Rourkela, thrashed Government Senior Secondary School, Jarkhar, Ludhiana, 7-1 in a super league match in the 36th ONGC Nehru Junior hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Sunday.

After a barren first half, Birsa Munda took the lead through Stanley Victor Minz (43rd and 47th minutes) before Bhupinder Pal Singh (50th) reduced the margin.

Kujur struck two minutes later before Sudhir Kerketta (55th) and Suresh Toppo (59th) joined the goal binge.

Kujur then slammed in two more in a space of three minutes as the Rourkela school came up trumps.

In other match, Town High School, Sundergarh, Orissa, rallied to beat Indira Priyadarshini Higher Secondary School, Bhopal, 4-3.

Mangal Kispotta (28th), Ernees Surin (32nd and 39th) and Jagdish Soreng (34th) were the scorers for Sundergarh school.

Jeeshan Malik (24th), Amer Rehman (33rd) and Washim (38th) scored for the Bhopal school.
