Militant shot dead in encounter, seven held

Imphal: An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with police commandos and seven were arrested in separate incidents in Manipur, sources said on Saturday.

Commandos, attached to the Imphal East district police, while raiding Angom Lawai area near here found three persons moving in a suspicious manner on Friday.

When challenged, they fired at the commandos who retaliated, killing one militant. The other two managed to escape. Local residents, however, said the victim was brought by the commandos and shot dead at point blank range. — PTI
