Kanpur: The India team’s late arrival at Kanpur meant that the squad would have nets early on Sunday and then decide on the 12. “We have to look at the wicket and decide,” said Cricket Manager Lalchand Rajput. He also added that the team management might decide to pick an extra bowler, most likely a spinner, based on the wicket. It would mean Murali Kartik could make it at the expense of Virender Sehwag or Robin Uthappa. The loss to Pakistan at Mohali, he said, would not affect the team too much. “We have to give credit to Pakistan for their great performance. They applied themselves really well.” He denied that the team’s pace attack was one-dimensional with three left-arm seamers. “We can’t change for the sake of changing. The bowlers are doing well,” he said. Rajput also defended the team’s strategy to go in with four bowlers at Mohali. “The wicket at Mohali helped the seamers, which is why we chose an extra batsman. Sometimes, plans don’t go well, but it was the right decision then.”
