Thailand meets Taiwan in final

BANGKOK: Host Thailand beat South Korea 2-1 to set up a final against Taiwan which defeated Japan 2-1 in the Asian Hopman Cup on Saturday. The tournament winner earns an automatic berth in next year’s Hopman Cup in Perth.

The results: Taiwan bt Japan 2-1 (Hsieh Su-wei bt Ayumi Morita 6-4, 6-2; Lu Yen-Hsun bt Kei Nishikori 6-3, 6-2; Hsieh & Lu Morita & Nishikori 6-4, 6-2).

Thailand bt South Korea 2-1 (Danai Udomchoke bt Im Kyu-Tae 6-3, 5-7, 6-1; Tamarine Tanasugarn bt Lee Ye-Ra 6-4, 6-4; doubles conceded). — Agencies
