Convincing win for Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad scored a comfortable 26-16 win over East Godavari in the preliminary round of the 31st Senior inter-district handball championship for men at Gymkhana Grounds here on Friday.

For the winners, Tirumal Reddy (8), Venkat (5) and Shiva Kumar (7) were the main scorers while for the losers Sampath and Manibabu with five goals apiece played well.

The results:

Hyderabad bt East Godavari 26-16; Vizag bt Chittoor 12-4; Kurnool bt Guntur 16-6; Kadapa bt Khammam 15-7; Adilabad bt Chittoor 11-8; Srikakulam bt Khammam 9-6; Warangal bt Ranga Reddy 30-17; Prakasham bt Adilabad 22-2; Warangal bt Karimnagar 15-7.

Pranjala in semifinals

Y. Pranjala blanked Shivani 6-0 to enter the girls’ under-10 semifinal of the Sun-Jay Tennis Academy sub-juniors tennis tournament at ASCI Courts here on Friday.

The results:

Girls: U-8: Quarterfinals: Mary Peter bt Shaikh Tahura 6-0; S.P. Sowmya bt Shaik Umera 6-0.

U-10: Quarterfinals: Y. Pranjala bt Shivani 6-0; L. Aishwarya bt C. Nikhita 6-0; Mary Peter bt S. Nidhi 6-1; B. Harshita Rao bt K. Srija 6-2.
