Three new meet records set

KOZHIKODE: Three new meet records marked the opening day of the 51st State junior athletics meet at the V.K. Krishna Menon Indoor Stadium here on Friday.

The records were set by C.M. Neeraj of Thrissur (Under-16, 800m), J. Sharanya of Kollam (Under-18, shot put) and Aswathy Mohan of Kozhikode (Under-16, 200m).

The results: Boys: Under-18: 200m: Renju Ramanan (Tvm), 2. Karthi Sugathan (Tvm), 3. T.S. Anish Kumar (Ktm), (22.50). Long jump: 1. S.S. Angelo (Klm), 2. V.S. Vineeth (Ktm), 3. A.V. Rakesh Babu (Kzde), (6.98m). Discus: Nimin Mathew (Kzde), 2. N. Shigil (Tvm), 3. K.S. Sreejith (Ktm), (39.60m). Under-16: 800m: 1. C.M. Neeraj (Tsr), 2. U.N. Arun Kumar (Ktm), 3. Lijo Mani (Knr), (1:58.09: NMR; OR: 1:59.60).

Girls: Under-20: 800m: 1. Tintu Luka (Kzde), 2. N.K. Jaseera (Tsr), 3. Jimy Jose (Tsr), (2:14.80). High jump: 1. Geethu Scaria (Tsr), 2. N.K. Siji (Knr), 3. T.D. Tintu (Ekm), (1.64m). Under-18: 800m: 1. Anu Mariam Jose (Knr), 2. Chinchu Jose (Knr), 3. P.M. Soniya (Ktm), (2:15.2). High jump: 1. Dayona Stanly (Tvm), 2. V.G. Renukamol (Tvm), 3. Reethu Mathew (Ktm), (1.55m).
