Changanassery: St. Joseph’s HSS, Pulincunnu, won the Good Shepherd all-Kerala inter-school boys’ basketball tournament here on Friday. In the final, St. Joseph’s staged a fine rally in the second and third quarters to turn the tables on St. Ephraim’s, Mannanam, which led 43-40 at half-time. St. Ephraim’s game went awry once it lost star player Aby Joy for his fifth foul at the start of the third quarter. St. Joseph’s won 81-61 to win its second consecutive title this week. The results: Final: St. Joseph’s HSS, Pulincunnu, 81 (Sanju A. Joy 22, Ashin Xavier Philip 22, Johnny Cherian 16) bt St. Ephraim’s, Mannanam, 61 (Nobin Antony 16, Chandan Das 15). Semifinal: St. Joseph’s, Pulincunnu, 49 (Johnny Cherian 12, Ashin Xavier Philip 11, Dijo Antony 10) bt Cherupushpa, Chandanakampara, 33 (Tinu Jacob 16). St. Ephraim’s, Mannanam, 46 (Nobin Antony 15, Jobin Varghese 10) bt GV Raja Sports School, TVM, 26 (Dinu V. Thampi 10). Cycling road racesThe Kerala State cycling road races will be held in Thiruvananthapuram here on November 10 and 11. Competitions will be conducted in the men’s, women’s, junior and sub-junior (boys’ and girls’) sections. Over 300 cyclists from all the 14 districts in the State, and KSRTC and KSEB will take part in the two-day event.
