Karachi: Pakistani pacer Mohammed Asif would soon fly to Australia for an assessment of his elbow injury amid fears that he might require a surgery to recover from the chronic problem that led to his late pullout from the one-day series in India. Nasim Ashraf, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Friday that Asif had been examined by two specialists in Lahore, who gave different opinions on his injury. “One has recommended surgery while another has said he requires rest and medication for a complete recovery. So we have decided to seek a third opinion from a top Australian sports medicine expert,” he said. Other officials in the Board said it was now highly unlikely that Asif will be fit before the Test series in India which begins from November 22 in New Delhi. — PTI
