Women urged to hone their skills

Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM: “In the global business environment, women have more opportunities to occupy coveted positions in the corporate world. But, for that they have to build their talent, knowledge and skills and develop a vision keeping the challenges of the new millennia in mind,” opined Director of Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies C. Suryanarayana in his inaugural address at a workshop on ‘Mentoring generation next: Women executives’ here on Wednesday. The workshop was organised by AIMS for the women MBA students. He also pointed out that a few studies have indicated that the performance level, commitment and dedication among women are much higher than in their male counterparts. “Women possess better analytical skills and are good decision makers. The mindset of women is changing fast and the inequality at the workplace and in society is on the decline,” he said.

Associate professor and advisor of the college M. Ramgopal asserted that the 21st century belongs to the women. Talking on the topic ‘Beating the college blues’, Valli Ramgopal cautioned that the young girls should be on the guard against evil forces and they should not indulge in hasty decisions.

Senior executive of the college Uma Shree advised to acquaint oneself with the work culture of the organisation to chart a successful career.
